Almost two years after the Abortion Reform Act 2019 came into being , the Tynwald Social Affairs Policy Review Committee (SAPRC) is finally asking for feedback from service users. But, since the provisions of the Act came into place in May 2019, CALM (Campaign for Abortion Law Modernisation) has heard from people who have been […]
Isle of Man Abortion Reform Act - one year on.
Campaign for Abortion Law Modernisation (CALM) welcomes the first abortion report from Public Health
The long-awaited statistics on abortion care on the Island have finally been published, and the good news is that the Abortion Reform Act 2019 has meant that there is finally a service that provides support and care for anyone seeking an abortion.
On 15 June 2021 the Social Affairs Policy Review Committee report on the Island’s abortion services was presented to Tynwald and CALM was delighted to hear Health Minister, David Ashford MHK say that Manx Care is relaunching access to Abortion Services with more publicity and online signposting. Not before time! The Abortion Reform Act was […]
Great, we changed the law. Tynwald passed the Abortion Reform Act 2019 and the service was put in place in May that year. But you’d be forgiven for not knowing how to access it. As we said back in 2019, passing the law is one thing but the services promised there had to be offered, […]

Figures released this week by the UK Government Department of Health show that 95 women travelled from the Isle of Man to England or Wales for terminations in 2018 – the year during which the Isle of Man Abortion Reform Bill (now Act) was going through the legislative process and being debated in numerous sittings […]
Abortion is now legal in the Isle of Man. If you’d like information, advice, or to book an appointment, call 01624 642521 – and, as the Abortion Reform Act 2019 says, you don’t need to be referred by your GP. It’s the same number for early medical abortions, available on-Island, or to access fully-funded terminations […]
